DEVELOPMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FOR LOCAL CONTENT SUBJECTS STUDY IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract: most of the district/city in East Java, assigned PLH subjects as local content (Mulok) at various levels of education, including junior high school education (Sekolah Menengah Pertama – SMP). PLH Mulok instill attitudes knowledge, and skill in the field of LH, so that students have concern in relation to the problem of LH which threaten the life. To date, the implementation of PLH Mulok in formal education in SMP is not optimal, because of the lack of supporting facilities/ infrastructure mainly PLH textbook, so that many teachers have difficulty in teaching PLH. PLH textbook development research needs to be done to support PLH Mulok programs in SMP in east Java. The first phase aims to develop a draft textbook PLH Mulok for SMP according to environmental condition and district, which is carried out through literature review, field/ school observation, identification of material requirements, and survey methods in the field of learning. The result of the study ware analyzed and used as data base for the preparation of the draft SMP PLH curriculum. TO produce valid curriculum, validation test is done by curriculum experts, PLH experts, and teacher practitioners in the PLH field. Test validation activities include review, revision, and confirm to the validator. Furthermore, the draft curriculum that has been validator is used as a reference in the preparation of the PLH textbook draft. Research year I has obtained results which is validate PLH curriculum and SMP PLH textbook draft, those are Book I, Book II, and Book III. PLH textbook draft will be validated and tested in the second year of the study, in order4 to get the final ISBN PLH Mulok textbook.
